They arrived on Voya Nui as Matoran villagers on a rescue mission. Once on the floating island, they were hit by lightning bolts from the Red Star, which transformed them into Toa Inika. Their mission: find the Mask of Life and use it to save the Great Spirit Mata Nui.

Toa Inika Hewkii can beat an enemy with the power of his stone-lightning blasts, laser axe or zamor launcher – or he can use his Kanohi Sanok, the Mask of Accuracy, and turn virtually anything that can be thrown into a weapon!

Searching for the Mask of Life, they travelled to Mahri Nui, where they were attacked by Zyglak. The Toa Inika fled into the water where they were transformed into the Toa Mahri by the energies of the Mask of Life.
